Deformations of complex geometric shapes are applied in particular in
the context of CAGD and in the animation industry. By means of
discrete fairing algorithms we decompose the original model (in the
back) into geometric frequency bands and generate a hierarchical
representation. The user can perform smooth deformations at
interactive framerates that are independent of the underlying
triangulation. Due to the hierarchical structure of the model surface
details are preserved and deform in an intuitive manner (foreground).
