3D Image Analysis and Synthesis

(Vertiefungsvorlesung Praktische Informatik)

From computer games to virtual reality, photo-realistic rendering results are an essential part of many computer graphics applications. Images represent an ideal modality to incorporate real-world input data into the graphics pipeline. This course introduces the concepts behind image-based modeling and rendering, i.e., how to retrieve 3D shape as well as surface reflection information from image data and how to photo-realistically render arbitrary new views. Pre-requisite for this course is last semester's Computer Graphics-I lecture.

Grading: Oral Examination

To be accepted for oral examination, you must have regularly attended the lectures and successfully completed the weekly programming exercises.
The programming exercises must be done and presented individually. However, you are encouraged to communicate with your fellow students when you encounter problems etc. The idea is that you know what your program is doing and why.
