SuSE 10.1 install memo Satellite P10-874

Registration problem.
- Problem: Can not quit the online update configuration.
- Description: `Novel personal Credential (optional)' are always asked and every time web browser is shown up. But never solved if you follows Web browser suggestion.
- Solution: Switch off the ``optional information'' in Yast Online Update Configuration.
Updater problem. (I think this is a big problem of the distribution.)
- Probrem: Update software has problem. And update this program, usually way in SuSE is using update software. So, it is a problem. Next error will be shown up.

  I always bought the DVD package, so it is the time to call support. However, they have already announced this is a problem. http://forums.suselinuxsupport.de/index.php?showtopic=37519
- Solution: Stop the Update software program and go Yast online update.

    - root #: /etc/init.d/novell-zmd stop
    - run the yast
    - Hardware profile --- off.
    - Registration code stuffs, I registered with activation code (which is on the CD/DVD box), but does not work for this purpose. I just registered on the web.
    - When the `configuration succeeded'' dialog is shown up. Then ok. But if the program asked `opening browser', it is something wrong.
  But I think this is not the end. I have still problems to update. I also tried. (Error or crash)
  - update zen-update and zmd only (only these two otherwise the same error according to combination of selected package).
  - restart ZENetwork by `rczmd restart'.
  - restart Update software.

Runlevel always reset to 5.
- I like to stay runlevel 3. Yast module can change it, but it will be overridden whenever you install something. /etc/inittab's comment said, in /etc/sysconfig/suseconfig, set CHECK_INITTAB="no".
