I will introduce some CG books.
- Foley, van Dam, Feiner and Hughes: ``Computer Graphics: Principals
and practice 2nd. Ed.,'' Addison wesley, 1990 (revised 1995),
Addison-Wesley Pub Co; ISBN: 0201848406
- Covered Area: General.
- It is good starting point to get in the computer graphics area.
(I heard once there is translation to Japanese of this book.)
However, but now (2002) this book becomes a little bit old and
you should complete some important recent technologies.
Missing hierarchical radiosity method, Photon mapping, Image
based rendering, many subdivision and parameterization
techniques, etc. However, this is a classic and good one.
- Andrew S. Glassner (editor), ``An Introduction to Ray Tracing,''
1989, Academic Pr; ISBN: 0122861604
- Covered Area: Ray tracing (Global illumination)
- This book is good for introduction to computer graphics and also
good for someone want to go farther. If you want to write a
ray-tracer, this helps good.
- Nakamae Eihachirou and Nishita Tomoyuki, ``3D computer graphics,''
1986, ISBN4-7856-3064-7 (Japanese)
- Covered Area: General
- If you can read Japanese, this book is
recommended. Personally, this is one of the best 3DCG book
written in Japanese. If you read this and want to see more,
read other (sorry but usually no way) English CG books.
- Michael F. Cohen and John R. Wallace, ``Radiosity and Realistic
Image Synthesis,'' Morgan Kaufmann Publishers, ISBN: 0121782700
- Covered Area: Radiosity (Global illumination)
- If you are in Radiosity area, this and Sillion's book
are good starting point.
-
François X. Sillion and Claude Puech, Radiosity and Global
Illumination, 1994, Morgan Kaufmann Publishers; ISBN: 1558602771
- Covered Area: Radiosity (Global illumination)
- If you are in Radiosity area, this and Cohen's book
are good starting point. If you see this author's name as
Franois, set your browser's `charactor set' to ISO-8859-2.
