Research Interests

I am since October 2003 a Ph. D. student at the Max Planck Institute for Informatics and member of the Graphics - Optics - Vision Research Group headed by Marcus Magnor. Some of my research interest are: photorealistic rendering, rendering of astronomical objects, rendering and reconstruction of volumetric data and augmented reality.

Recently, New Scientist reported about our Augmented Astronomical Telescope project. It even made it as a Top Story in the Astronomy channel of NewScientistSpace. There is also a Slashdot - Science thread about it. An article about the Augumented Astronomical Telescope appeared also in Astronomie Heute, the german edition of the Sky and Telescope magazine.

Astronomy

Starting with December 2004, the MPI Informatics is in the posession of a Meade LX200GPS, 10'' Telescope. One of my recent research projects uses this telescope. Until the beginning of 2006 we hope to have the telescope mounted in the astronomical observatory being built on the roof of our institute. I have a separate page where you can find information about astronomy in general, about future observing sessions, the weather conditions at the observatory and much more. If you got curious make sure you check out this link:
