This seminar covers foundations and advanced topics in the field of information visualization,exploratory data analysis and visual analytics.
Graphical inventions and displays are an important external aid that help the human analyst to reveal hidden patterns in large and complex data spaces.
In this seminar we will study how to create effective and useful visualizations. The seminar is targetted both towards students interested in using visualization in their own work,
and students interested in building better visualization tools and systems.

The target audience are students in computer science or related fields. Every participant will give a talk about a key scientific publication which has made a difference in visual data analysis and information visualization. Afterwards, the publication will be discussed within the seminar group. This is a great opportunity for students to improve their research and presentation skills and to learn about the scientific foundations and latest developments in the emerging fields of information visualization and visual analytics. The seminar language is English. No prerequisite skills are necessary to join the seminar.
