Research Group

Head of the independent research group on "statistical geometry processing" within the Max-Planck-Center for Visual Computing and Interaction. Former research group within the Cluster of Excellence "Multi-Modal Computing and Interaction" at Saarland University and MPI Informatik Saarbrücken.

Research topics include:

  • Machine learning and graphics
  • Statistical tools for modeling and geometric data analysis
  • Symmetry detection and applications
  • Processing of animated geometry from real-time 3D scanners
  • Rendering, editing, and analysis of large geometric and spatial data sets

Our research is located at the intersection of computer vision and graphics. If it should be summarized in a single phrase, we work on "shape understanding". See our group page for more details.
