Welcome to my homepage

Research interests

My main working area is ''Logic and Uncertainty''. For instance, I try to integrate qualitative and quantitative approaches to knowledge representation and inductive reasoning, as well as to model the dynamics of complex epistemic states in the context of multi-agent-systems. More recently, I have started to work on a logic of trust for cognitive agents in science, which calls for a bundling and extension of these formal tools. This is done in collaboration with my colleague Christoph Schommer who is investigating related empirical issues.

For further details about my past research activities, you may enjoy a synoptic account of my research history, have a look at my publication list, or read a seminal paper on default reasoning, introducing System JLZ (good luck).

Organizational hobbies

I am currently the representative of the researchers in the faculty council of the Faculty of Science, Technology and Communication. So, if you are a researcher in trouble, you may well try to contact me before taking other desperate actions.

One of my goals is to anchor and develop Logic and Artificial Intelligence at the University of Luxembourg, and beyond. While the first three years already have been pretty successful, much remains to be done. So let's do it.
